Whittington Cricket Club: Our Values, Principles, Guidelines and Objectives
What is this document?
This is overview of what Whittington Cricket Club stands for, and what we expect from ourselves as
a club and being affiliated members. This has been written to supplement our existing set of policies
which are available at:

We feel it’s important to clarify our purpose, objectives, and expectations in terms of behaviour and
conduct.
What this document is not?
This is not a legal document. As a community sports club we have no jurisdiction to set the law or tell
people what they should and should not do. Individuals are essentially responsible for themselves
and should adhere to national laws or any terms and conditions they willfully sign up to.
What are our core objectives, values, and principles?
Whittington Cricket Club strives to deliver and provide cricket opportunities to anyone regardless of
their background, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or beliefs. The actual wording
of our constitution is as follows:
‘Membership of the Club shall be open to anyone interested in cricket on application, regardless of
sex, age, disability, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion or other beliefs. However,
limitation of membership according to available facilities is allowable on a non-discretionary basis.’
Integrity and fairness are the foundation of our makeup and should guide the way we interact with
each other, other clubs and the community in general. Our principles have helped to create a vibrant
and ethical culture.
We believe in dignity, inclusiveness, and compassion. We respect people of all backgrounds,
capabilities, and opinions. We encourage a supportive, culturally diverse club environment. This
means we are committed to providing an environment that is free of harassment, intimidation, bias,
and discrimination of any kind. Everyone has an opportunity to contribute and achieve their
cricketing ambitions.
We take our responsibility to safeguard children in our junior section and create a safe and positive
environment for them to thrive very seriously.
We provide a safe, healthy, and productive work environment for all members. Acts of violence,
abuse or bullying are not tolerated.
What do we expect from you as members?
Within the clubs physical and digital environments, we expect you never behave in a disrespectful,
hostile, violent, intimidating, threatening, or harassing manner. Should you witness or be subjected
to any experiences like this (related to club/cricket matters) we advise that you speak to a club
official such as a captain, or committee representative
