Where to find us? Whittington Cricket Club Vicarage Lane. WS14 9LQ We are the same turning off the main road as St Giles Hospice. The road bends around to the left, and we are on the right-hand side of Vicarage Lane, the second set of farm gates. Where to park? As you come through the gate, you will be directed immediately left. You will then travel clockwise around the ground and park up on the top hill. There is loads of space What time? To get people registered, please arrive by about 5.15pm. We start at 5.45pm for All Stars. Registration and Pre-Session: Registrations will be clearly signposted, with some friendly volunteers there to sign you in. We are hoping to do this digitally and quickly. The kids can play on the outfield, but please ask them not to touch any of the equipment laid out. Feel free to bring your own All Stars backpacks, but you will not need them for the actual session. We have the kit and we do not want to lose any of yours in the mayhem. Please ensure sensible social distancing when registering. What happens then? It will be obvious when to start, there is a cacophony of sound and movement. Kids and parents gather around the coaches. We will put the kids into groups of 15 or less. The groups will be emailed to you in due course. The All Stars Session: This starts at 5.45pm. We have a 5 minute intro and then the sessions start. Each group will be led to an activity station and we get going. An activity will last about 10 minutes each, then they switch to the next station and so on. We love it when the parents/guardians follow the kids around. We also love it when they have a drink and watch. Parents/guardians must not leave the ground. We need you there in case your child needs help. Please ensure they have been to the toilet, are well hydrated and sun creamed in the better weather. The All Stars Session Conclusion – The kids will help us tidy up, and then they will be led back to the reception desk. We need you to physically collect your child/children. The session will finish at 6.45pm or so. Dynamos: we will be setting up the Dynamos session in the background. This will start at 6.45pm or so. Registration will be as per session one. Please register in good time. We also have some groups allocated, which will be emailed in due course. The Dynamos Session: this is a new programme, and we will be learning as we go. In essence we will teach cricket skills via fun activities and eventually progress to real softball games (later in the summer). In this instance the kids will remain at the same station/with the same coaches for the whole hour. Finish time 7.45pm. Again, the kids will help tidy up, and will need collecting by their respective parents/guardians. Bar and Barbecue: Whittington Cricket Club will be providing a Covid safe Bar and Barbecue. Payment will be contactless via a table service ordering system. Our table servers will be prominent, please, please bear with us if things get busy. We will be doing the best we can under the difficult circumstances. Where to watch/Bring your own seating: We are really happy for parents to follow the All Stars around the field in a safe and responsible way. We also do not mind if you get involved and help! The bar/barbecue area will be clearly marked out by cones. We suggest you bring picnic blankets or garden chairs to increase your comfort, but please try to site yourselves away from the action/in a designated area. Covid Restrictions: We ask you to be aware and respectful to social distancing during the current pandemic. Being outside we have plenty of space, which is great. However, we all must take responsibility to conduct ourselves in a compliant and safe way. All kit will be sanitised after use at end of each session. Distinct groups of 15 or less will be implemented to minimise contact and mixing. Weather/Cancellation: Nobody can control the weather, although we wish we could. It is a matter of judgement if we feel its unsafe or just unpleasant to run a session. The kids are our priority. At the same time, we make every effort to get the session on. It is also your call (parents/guardians) if you do not feel comfortable about participation. We will try to clearly communicate what is happening, and we will probably delay this until about 5pm on a Friday to provide us with flexibility. We will communicate via email and the website: https://whittingtoncricket.club/about-us/juniors-under-11-ecb-all-stars-dynamos/ Water/Sunscreen advice: Please read our documentation on these links to ensure the kids are kept safe and well. Please see our policies herewith: https://whittingtoncricket.club/club-documents/hydration-policy/ https://whittingtoncricket.club/club-documents/sunscreen-guide/ Photography Guidelines: Please seen and adhere our policies herewith: https://whittingtoncricket.club/club-documents/photography-and-video-camera-policy/ Missing Child Policy: Please see our guidelines herewith: https://whittingtoncricket.club/club-documents/missing-child-policy/ We appreciate there is a lot of information here. Thank you for your attention. Fridays are a lot of fun, and extremely positive in term of community culture/health and fitness. This is run by volunteers, and there will be snags/errors. This is your club too and we look forward to seeing you over the summer of 2021. Take good care and stay safe. Whittington Cricket Club May 2021 Questions to Justin: 07970 286 397 jpmeynell@gmail.com
Our family-centric facility and incredible coaches provide a safe and joyous environment for the youngsters to thrive. Parents often participate in the games, as well as enjoying the delights offered by the barbeque and bar. Throw in some sunshine, and music and there are few better ways for a family to enjoy a Friday night. We have been in receipt of county and national awards for our efforts, and we can claim the number one spot in Staffordshire for overall participation (and one of the best nationally too). A lot of kudos goes to our volunteers for making this happen – this can be in the region of 30 Activators every Friday evening. Justin Meynell coordinates this section, supported by David Lote, Paul Janz, Andy Collett, Andy Jordan, Alex Arnold, and Chad Southam who act as more-than-capable lieutenants. We will start the programme on Friday 1st of May, and it will run on at least until the end of the summer term, and maybe beyond!Dear Parents and Guardians.
